PHILOSOPHY

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value" - Albert Einstein

Of course I'm always going to have that inner desire to push myself past my competition. It is how I use this desire to better myself that is the difference. Some get caught up in this desire and let it consume them until all they care about is being successful instead of focusing on what difference they can make now. I want to be noticed in my future profession and life not by how I try to get to the next "level", but how I can help those around me achieve their goals as well. I don't want to be known for stepping on the hands and feet of those around me in order to achieve my personal dreams. I want the people around me to have the same drive that I do, and to challenge each other to create better projects, a stronger culture, and more fulfilling life. It feels special to come up with that unique idea that gets people talking, and it also feels great when your team is able to achieve that. I want to work at a company that, like myself, is always finding ways to push themselves to "think outside the box."

I have these same goals in my personal life where I am my greatest challenge. I must challenge those tendencies to be lazy. I enjoy picking up new hobbies to busy myself, and this is why I competed for the rock climbing team instead of trying out for soccer which I had been playing all my life. I plan on continuing this once I'm out of college. I don't know if my future holds wood working, mountain biking, learning a new language, boxing, or drawing, but I know I'm excited to find out.
