Property Law and Contracts
Evaluate the law and contract provisions that impact and secure property value with respect to property rights and obligations, public private partnerships, conveyance, ownership structure, leases, liens, mortgages, property finance, rights of way, easements, covenants, and other legal and contract provisions

It is important that a person in the real estate industry has the legal vocabulary to structure deals and negotiate contracts. Through classes like FINC 676 (Commercial Real Estate Law) and LDEV 687 (Development Feasibility and Design) we are taught how to read, create, and find what’s missing in lease contracts, how to structure a entity, and contract negotiations between buyers and sellers. We are also taught the importance of gaining entitlements, how to avoid or deal with liens on your property or company, and restrictive easements that can encumber a project.

The assignment below was done for LDEV 687. We were assigned to read Confessions of a Real Estate Agent to better understand how different entities were structured. We then needed to explain our understanding of each entity in the assignment below.
